Xoki Provides Update On Injury Recovery

Orlando Pirates vice-captain Tapelo Xoki says he’s in the process of rehabilitation taking things one day at a time after a long-term injury.

The 31-year-old last featured for the club in May 2025 and suffered a serious injury in a horrific accident on the R21 highway, which involved himself, head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, goalkeeper coach Tyron Damons and a member of the backroom.

This after a league game, where they beat Chippa United 3-0, the team bus stopped to assist at a crash scene, where another vehicle then struck them.

“I’m still grateful for life, I’m grateful to our physios for the part they played, grateful for the club and everyone who has supported me throughout the journey,” Xoki said at the MTN Goals for Charity event this week.

“I’m busy with rehab currently, it’s going well and I’m just taking things one day at a time.”

Xoki has featured 84 times for Pirates since his move from AmaZulu, scoring eight goals, with three assists and six domestic cups won.
