Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter was not keen to discuss the penalty incident where Victor Letsoalo was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the area.
Letsoalo, who was floored and initially holding his shin, appeared to have put his hand out towards the ball before Thembinkosi Lorch opportunistically passed the ball against his ar, leaving referee Thando Ndzandzeka signal for the spot-kick.
It proved to be a pivotal moment in the match as Tapelo Xoki stepped up on the brink of half-time to cancel out Sibusiso Vilakazi’s 12th-minute opener, while Terrence Dzvukamanja scored Pirates’ winner in the 94th minute.
Truter was furious in the direct aftermath of the referees’ decision and received a yellow card before storming into the change room at half-time.
However, he seemed a lot more calm after the full-time whistle but opted not to reveal his opinion about Ndzandzeka’s call.
“No. No comment,” Truter said when asked if he’d discuss the penalty incident.
“I think there was an [Extra-Time] episode two weeks ago with Ace [Ncobo] and also we’re still addressing it. There is incidents like that.
“If I go into it now, I’d be sounding bitter and I don’t want to do it. Congratulations to Pirates.”
In the post-match interview on SuperSport TV, Truter was not asked about the penalty incident, but he did admit Pirates’ goals came from “two Sekhukhune mistakes”.
Babina Noko will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup next season by virtue of reaching the domestic cup final due to Pirates finished second and securing CAF Champions League football.
