Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has insisted he was misunderstood about his remarks that they only prepared 20 minutes ahead of the Orlando Pirates game.
Masandawana beat their title rivals 4-1 last week Saturday but lost to TS Galaxy three days later on Tuesday.

Ahead of the top-of-the-table clash, Cardoso had stated “we only training 20 minutes for Pirates” but he now insisted he was misinterpreted, as he was referring to tactical work on the training pitch.
“The other day when we spoke about the match against Pirates, some people didn’t respect me about what I said – I said we prepared the game in 20 minutes,” he said in the pre-match press conference ahead of their Nedbank Cup clash with Mpheni Home Defenders.

“I was referring about tactical work on the pitch. That in 20 minutes we have to explain basically what was the approach, not that the training sessions were 20 minutes or that we didn’t discuss them in meetings or whatever.
“But I saw many comments saying ‘the coach is special wise, preparing matches in 20 minutes’. No, please try to understand what I say.
“It meant that the condition, the physicality imposed by a training session should not allow us more than this kind of time. Then, we had several meetings to prepare, we had videos from that 20 minutes to repeat and repeat what we wanted.
“And that’s exactly what happened with TS Galaxy, exactly what happened, the same level of training.
“Now, we gave rest to the boys, we arrived yesterday at 1 o’clock in the afternoon, we gave them rest today and tomorrow we’re gonna have one possibility to have a training session to prepare the future, not the next match also, but the future and to continue to work on our development, on our game ideas.
“But even tomorrow for some players, we worry about the rest because they are tired.”
Sundowns take on the ABC Motsepe League side on Sunday at 15:00, with the game being moved from Loftus Versfeld to Lucas Moripe Stadium.
