Marumo Gallants beat Durban City 4-1 on penalties to seal passage into the Nedbank Cup semifinals at the Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
It was the visitors who had the first opportunity to get on the scoresheet as early as the fourth minute when Junior Zindoga skinned the City defenders but his shot went straight at Ayanda Mtshali.
Mtshali was then forced to rushed off his line to make a save from Zindoga again just two minutes later.
Chances were far and few between the sides as the first half ended 0-0.
Siyavuya Ndlovu rose high in the 72nd minute but his header sailed just inches on top of the crossbar with Mlambo well beaten in the Gallants goal.

Samkelo Maseko then unleashed a long-range shot from outside the box in the 81st minute with Joslin Kamatuka getting a glancing header on the ball but it missed the target.
In the 90th minute, Durban City were denied what looked like a clear penalty when Maseko was charged from behind by Mpho Chabatsane but his remonstration was waved off by the referee as the match ended 0-0.
Rivaldo Prins then rattled the woodwork for Gallants five minutes into extra-time after Daniel Msendami put in a beautiful cross.
The match went into penalties which saw the Motsepe Foundation Championship lose 4-1 to Bahlabane Ba Ntwa.
