Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Jimmy Tau fails to understand why match officials overturned the decision to give Stellenbosch FC a foul on goalkeeper Sage Stephens to handing Amakhosi a goal in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals.
With the match tied at 1-1 with 95 minutes having been palyed, the Glamour Boys were given a goal in the most controversial manner after Stephens was impeded by George Matlou from a corner kick.
The assistant referee initially raised his flag after the Stellies goalminder was clearly fouled by Matlou but then changed his mind after further consultation with referee Sikhumbuso Gasa.
“I think as you can see that overlay, Sage Stephens gets fouled by Matlou,” Tau said on SuperSport TV.
“The ball comes off [Thabo] Moloisane, hits his arm, it goes towards [Pule] Mmodi’s direction who is in an offside position.

“So, first things first, it is a foul on Sage Stephens and that was supposed not to be given as a goal.
“Hence the official there flagged for a foul, but as to why he changed his decision, it will be really interesting to know from him.”
Amakhosi ran out 3-1 victors courtesy of goals from Inacio Miguel, Pule Mmodi and Mfundo Vilakazi while Stellies’ goal came from Andre De Jong.
