Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung says club chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung Sr was so elated in the side breaking their 10-year dry trophy spell.
Amakhosi defeated bitter rivals Orlando Pirates 2-1 in the Nedbank Cup final for their first trophy since 2015 and what made the victory even sweater was the fact that Chiefs qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup next season, in an enduring rebuilding season.
Speaking to Robert Marawa on #MSWOn947 on Monday, Jessica revealed how the club chairman had a good feeling about the day, the kind words he had for the management adding that the founder of the club deserves the trophy after creating a great brand and waiting for 10 years for silverware.
“It was congratulations he was so happy,” said Jessica.
“When I spoke to him on the phone, I was saying even this morning I could feel and hear his smile through the phone. Honestly, I could feel it. I could see his face because he was just so happy. He’s saying well done to us you know congratulations to us. He was just so happy.
“He said he started the morning so well, he was so calm he spent the whole day at home. He just had a very good feeling about it and I think that what it is all of us had that feeling. What it showed me is that collective consciousness, the oneness and it reminded me of us when we hosted the World Cup as South Africans. When we as a people just have the same energy, have a common goal you can achieve so much.
“I was also saying that I know that God didn’t get that many prayers as he did for this game. I mean everybody really prayed that this would go well and the chairman was so elated. I mean he was so happy and really well deserved.
“He’s worked so hard, created a great brand, given many of us a great platform and he really deserved to have this.”
