Khanye Applauds Chiefs Duo In NBC Triumph

iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye has taken time to heap huge praise on the duo of Yusuf Maart and Mduduzi Shabalala after their impressive display in the Nedbank Cup final victory over Orlando Pirates.

Maart scored the winner, a goal created by Shabalala at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday to end Amakhosi’s 10-year trophy drought and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

The 21-year-old was introduced with the game locked at 1-1 and his movements led to his captain becoming a hero by scoring one the most important goals after facing a lot of criticism this season.

Khanye believes the goal is life changing for Maart while hailing Shabalala for changing the game.

“Credit to this boy Yusuf Maart he has changed his life by scoring,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“This is history and it’s not the first time he scores in the derby. He once won a game for Kaizer Chiefs. Well done to the boy we have been critical of him but that’s because he has committed a lot of blunders.

“But this is a life changing goal and sometimes even the national team coach can see him after scoring in the Nedbank cup final. It’s been a while since Chiefs won anything, and they showed character, and we must give them credit.

“I give Nabi credit this time for reading the game well and bringing on Shabalala. But also, players sometimes will surprise you. Well done to Mdu this is what we want from him. The boy came and changed the complexion of the game.

“Chiefs were speedy running behind the Orlando Pirates defence. Check that goal, Mdu went straight to [Nkosinathi] Sibisi he delayed, then turned and cut in and played it to [Ashley] Du Preez and when it looked like the ball died Du Preez brought it back and Yusuf Maart made sure to join in the box as an attacking midfielder, well done to him.”
