Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates midfielder Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi says Thembinkosi Lorch should be worried about his future at the club, especially if he can’t even be selected to play against small sides.
Lorch made a move to Chloorkop in January last year and he has played 14 matches across all competitions and scored five goals.
This season the former Pirates winger has seemingly fallen even more down the pecking order at Sundowns, playing only four matches and has no goals or assists. Sundowns played with majority of fringe players in their Nedbank Cup Last 32 encounter against Sibanye on Saturday with no Lorch on sight.
Tso believes the 31-year-old should take this as a sign that he is not in the Brazilians plans and he should be proactive about his future.
“As a player you need to be worried, be really worried when there’s a game like this and you are not part of the team while they are trying to rotate the players,” said Tso on iDiski TV.
“It means you need to be worried. I think if he’s really not here it really shows that he’s not part of the plans. So I think they will release him.
“That’s what I’m seeing and that’s why it’s so sad because a player like him can maybe try his luck somewhere. Maybe make a call or maybe send a message to say look we are playing Champions League, as a big team maybe he should come here for a loan and finish his six months.
“There are games where you need experience, there are games where you need elders not kids. I think he just needs to speak to his agent because if you don’t play in a game like this one which game are you going to play?
“Unfortunately it happens in football that a time will come and they will open the door and make sure that the gate has a sensor so that they don’t have to stand up and open for you.
“They open a door because they need to lock it when you are out and the sensor will allow you to walk out of the gate.”
