Nabi Gives Assessment Of Chiefs Mood Ahead Of Downs

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says though things aren’t going well for his side the mood in camp is good ahead of the Nedbank Cup semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns this weekend.

Chiefs go into the game at Loftus Stadium on Sunday at the back of a four-match winless streak in the league that saw them collect just two points from a possible 12, to sit in eighth position on the log with 30 points.

The Chiefs mentor admits that the past few games have weighed heavily on him and his players as he felt they should have bagged maximum points over the less fancied sides.

The Nedbank Cup is the last piece of silverware Amakhosi can contest for this season and Nabi said after the talks in the team they are now focused on getting the job done over Sundowns, who have beaten three on three occasions this campaign.

“To be honest with you I can’t say that we are in a good situation,” said Nabi.

“I think the last three games were so difficult for us because from the beginning we always had problems when playing against teams that we are normally better than.

“So always we find a problem when we play against this kind of teams but we discussed to see what’s the problem, to find the problem and to try to correct the situation. We get a lot of meetings between the players and us but us as the technical bench we try to analyse the situation.

“But to be honest with you now actually we are in a good way. That’s in the past we discussed about it, we tried to solve it and now we can concentrate on the future.

“After tomorrow we have a game against Sundowns. I think we played against Cape Town [City], we played against Golden Arrows, we played against Richards Bay normally we must get nine points in these three games.

“We were thinking a lot about these games but I think we take responsibility if we don’t win this game.

“Like I said we analysed all the situations but it’s between us and the players we know what’s the situation and we are finished discussing about what happened before.

“We are now only thinking about Sunday’s game against Sundowns in the Nedbank semi-final.”
