Parker Addresses Concerning Galaxy Slump

TS Galaxy assistant coach Bernard Parker admits their recent form is a concern and something they are well aware of going into their Nedbank Cup quarter final.

Galaxy host ABC Motsepe League side Jacksa Spears of the Northern Cape in the last-eight of the competition, where the traditional big three have already been eliminated.

With Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns out, the tails are up for the 2019 winners of the competition to potentially replicate that feat – but they come into the tie at the back of five consecutive league defeats.

“Yes we’re well aware on our current form in the domestic league and well aware of our current form in the Nedbank Cup as well, for me when I was on a player, now being on both sides of the Nedbank Cup of winning and losing, that experience, bringing it to the players, explaining what this competition can do, all matters on the day,” Parker said.

“Our preparations, currently, is just for us to get back to basics, being at the right mental levels, in terms of how we have been working and what we have built to get us thus far, both within the PSL and now within the Nedbank Cup.

“It will be a very tricky fixture with Jacksa Spears, but we’ve done our homework, as well as they have done their homework and we all know what can happen, and what has happened in the past with this Nedbank Cup.

“Also, as a club, we’re well aware, we can go all the way to the final – we all know the big teams have been surprised and we also don’t want that from the opponents, but right now the focus is on Jacksa Spears and getting back to the performance level we want.”

The Rockets host the third-tier side who are currently third in the ABC NC Stream B after 15 games played, at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
