TS Galaxy interim coach Bernard Parker says his conversations with his players about the upcoming Nedbank Cup final holds more weight because of his experiences as a player in the Ke Yona decider.
Parker scored the winning goal for Kaizer Chiefs when they defeated the now defunct SuperSport United in the 2013 final.

He was also part of the Chiefs side that lost the Cup final to Galaxy while the latter was still in the First Division in 2019.
With the departure of Adnan Beganovic, ‘Die hond’ has been given the responsibilities of the first team until the end of the season and will oversee the 2026 Nedbank Cup final against Durban City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Parker told the media at the final’s pre-match press conference in Polokwane on Thursday that when the message about the magnitude of the game comes from him, it holds water.
“The good thing about it is that when I get to tell the players about the Nedbank Cup, and I get to explain to them what it’s like to be in the final or I get to explain to them what it’s like to experience being in the final, is because I come from that as a player, ” said Parker.
“So, the message is more stronger to the players. And I’ve also won the Nedbank Cup as well as a player actually scored in the final towards the dying minutes.
“I scored in the final for us to lift the Nedbank Cup and I also was on the losing end as well against the very same team that I’m coaching today.
“So, it’s just to make sure that the players understand how massive this is, and also, at the same time, how this could impact their lives massively as well.”
