Riveiro – How Royal AM Postponement Affected Pirates

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has discussed how the late postponement of his side’s clash with Royal AM has affected their plans this week.

The Buccaneers were scheduled to take on Thwihli Thwahla on Thursday, but the match – as well as all upcoming Royal AM games – was suspended due to the club’s financial situation.

Riveiro admitted the cancellation did affect their plans, but they are ready for Sunday’s ‘cup final’ against Richards Bay.

“No not really, it’s a permanent adaption of circumstances in our job, this is one more, we were prepared to travel to Durban and stay there for the rest of the week, have a good camp, preparing for these two games,” Riveiro said.

“We couldn’t unfortunately, it wasn’t possible and again we have to change our schedule, it’s the second time this season, once again Cape Town City in Cape Town because of weather conditions, we had to play 24 hours later and find a way to stay focused.

“This time, it’s changing the plans a bit, we would have liked to play the game and fight for three points but it wasn’t possible and now we have to switch our minds and as I said before it’s a final, in the Nedbank Cup you play final from the first say.

“Everyone wants to do well in these tournaments so it’s a permanent adaptation to schedule and circumstances, it’s football now in terms of planning and we don’t complain.”

The Natal Rich Boyz host the Sea Robbers at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium at 15:30 on Sunday.
