Titus – Winning Is My Mentality

Ahead of their Nedbank Cup quarter-final against SuperSport United on Saturday, Stellenbosch forward Devin Titus says his priority is not scoring goals or getting assists, but just helping the team win.

With 13 goal contributions (10 goals and 3 assists) in all competition this season, Titus has been one of the key players for Steve Barker’s team this season.

But the former Hellenic youngster says that it doesn’t matter who contributes to the goals, as long as the team wins.

“Goals are not my main objective,” Titus said.

“My main objective is to win the game for the team, whether I score, whether I assist, or I get nothing, as long as we win.

“That’s my main objective and my main priority for the team.”

Titus, the former Diski Challenge captain, led the young Stellies team to the title in 2021/2022 before being promoted to the first team. He also led the U19 team to victory at the NextGen tournament in England.

The 22-year-old says that winning is part of his mentality, and after winning the Carling Knockout last year, he is targeting the Nedbank as their next piece of silverware.

“Yes, you know, I’m young, but age is just a number,” he continued when asked by iDiski Times about his mentality.

“Winning is my mentality. Without winning, I don’t think I can be the person I am. But with that said, hard work is also the main priority for me.

“Without hard work I can’t be Devin Titus and without winning I can’t be Devin Titus.

“Those are my two main objectives for the team – to help them win more trophies with the Carling in our bag, and now hoping to get Nedbank cup next.”
