Mamelodi Sundowns star Themba Zwane has hailed his Orlando Pirates counterpart Patrick Maswanganyi, with both players hailing from Tembisa.
The duo will meet each other in Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final, with Maswanganyi being nominated for the NBC Player of the Tournament – one of his four nominations.
Meanwhile, Zwane – despite winning the seventh successive league title with Sundowns – has not been nominated in any category this season.
However, Mshishi’s status as arguably the best player of his generation is undisputed, but Tito has set the South African scene alight this season, making Pirates fans fall in love with his play by adding in bits of showboating.
Ahead of Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final, Zwane praised Maswanganyi for expressing himself and representing his roots well.
“Tito is a good player, intwana yase [my home boy] Kasi,” he told reporters.
“For me personally, I’m happy for him. Last time I spoke to him, I told him he’s doing well. He’s representing kasi very well.
“I’m proud of him.”
Saturday’s final kicks off at 18:00 at Mbombela Stadium
