Campbell Opens Up On Bafana Dream

Club Brugge winger Shandre Campbell has admitted that playing for the senior national team is his ultimate goal.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a successful 2024 that saw him move from SuperSport United to the Belgian side, though he is currently with their feeder team Club NXT where he has scored five goals in eight matches.

Campbell was also part of Raymond Mdaka’s U20 side that won the 2024 U20 COSAFA edition and ultimately qualified for the U20 AFCON next year. The South African junior side scored 16 goals and conceded none on their way to lifting the trophy in Mozambique with Campbell contributing three of those goals.

Campbell spoke to iDiski Times writer Sinethemba Makonco in edition 184 of the newspaper where spoke about his senior team ambitions however noted that timing has to be right.

“Definitely! The goal is to represent Bafana Bafana one day,” Campbell told iDiski Times.

“But I know it’s all in God’s timing. When my time comes, I’ll be ready and will give it my all. It feels amazing, you know – winning a cup for my national team [U20] and contributing to the nation is such a proud moment for me.”
