Fagrie Opens Up On SA Return/Chiefs Rumours

Fagrie Lakay has revealed that he is not considering a move back home as yet despite rumours linking him with Kaizer Chiefs.

Lakay joined the Egyptian side in 2022 from Cape Town City featuring in 118 matches across all competitions, scoring 33 goals and providing a further 11 assists.

He has however spent this season on loan at Ceramica Cleopatra where he has made 11 appearances and has two goals and as many assists so far.

The 27-year-old spoke to iDiski Times editor Rob Delport in edition 191 of the newspaper where he mentioned his future plans.

“I would like to stay on this side of the world for as long as possible and maybe move back home at a later stage in my career,” Lakay told iDiski Times.

The former Santos man has been unlucky to not get into the senior national team recently but added that he is proud of what Bafana Bafana have achieved at last year’s Africa Cup of Nations and he is working hard to get back into the squad.

“Very, very proud of what they achieved!” added Lakay.

“It was amazing to watch. Yes definitely, like I told you before, it’s always an honour to play for the national team and that’s definitely the aim — to get back there.

“I just need to continue working hard and scoring and the rest will follow.”
