South African defender Samukele Kabini made his debut for FK Molde as they thrashed Elnesvågen 7-0 in the Norweigan Cup on Sunday.
Kabini, 21, joined Molde in the final week before the start of the 2025 season in Norway and was on the bench for their opening two Eliteserien games, but made his official bow in the domestic cup as they thrashed the third-tier outfit.
He came on in the second half, for 30 minutes and impressed in the left-back role, where he’s primarily been signed for, while during his time at TS Galaxy he also starred as a left-centre back, providing versatility for his new club.
Kabini will be aiming to build on this performance, with the player recently being named in the preliminary Bafana Bafana squad for the past 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin.
Head coach Hugo Broos admits he’s one they have identified as a future left-back of the senior national team after his immense progress with the Rockets over the past year since joining the club from Orlando Pirates DStv Diski Challenge squad.
Kabini racked up 39 appearances for Galaxy, scoring three goals, with three assists to his name before his record sale to Europe last month.
