South African wing-back Gift Links has been nominated for the Danish Superliga Footballer of the Season award after producing one of the most remarkable individual campaigns the league has seen in recent memory.
The 27-year-old, who plays for Aarhus GF (AGF), has started all 36 of his club’s games this season and has been a driving force behind their title challenge.
He has been given the highest average rating of any player in the Danish Superliga this season by FotMob – a remarkable distinction in a league that has historically been dominated by the likes of FC Copenhagen and FC Midtjylland.
The 27-year-old is tipped to be one of the contenders for the Player of the Season award, boasting at least 12 Man of the Match accolades this season alone, along with several nominations and awards for Player of the Month.
Links has been a model of consistency throughout the campaign. He had earned the Team of the Week honour five times in the 2025/26 season alone, contributing to AGF’s strong position at the top of the league standings with goals, assists, and defensive recoveries.
Links was previously named in the 2023/24 Superliga team of the season, but this year’s performances represent a clear step up — cementing his status as one of the best players in Scandinavia.
With AGF locked in a title race and Links at the peak of his powers, the Player of the Season award would be a fitting capstone to what has been a truly exceptional year for the Rustenburg-born midfielder.
