The former Cape Town City forward spoke with iDiski Times before his side’s CAF Champions League clash against Orlando Pirates on the matchday one and explained that he is targeting to score at least double figures this season.
In the last two Betway Premiership campaigns, Mayo scored 22 league goals, 12 in 2022/23 when he shared the Golden Boot with Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile, and 10 in 2023/24, which was six behind Orlando Pirates’ Tshegofatso Mabasa who won the Golden Boot award.
“If I get the game-time obviously I will get to double figures. That’s the aim to reach double figures,” Mayo told iDiski Times.

“Because I’ve been doing it for the past two seasons so it’s a norm. I have to keep on doing it and achieving the goals that I’ve set for myself to get to double figures and go above the record that I’ve set.”
Mayo has opened his account against Pirates in the CAFCL group stage match.
