Young Africans head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has explained how difficult it is to qualify for the CAF Champions League.
Young Africans made it to the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League after eliminating Botswana champions Gaborone United 3-2 on aggregate. The Tanzanian champions played a 1-1 draw away from home before securing a 2-1 win at home.

Mngqithi’s side got a scare towards the end of the second leg of the CAFCL against Gaborone United after they scored in the 87th minute.
Mngqithi emphasised that the first round of the CAFCL is difficult to play and also made an example about Mamelodi Sundowns clash again KCC of Uganda.
“The first round of the CAFCL is always difficult believe me, we were nearly knocked out by KCC in Uganda after winning the CAFCL with Mamelodi Sundowns,” Mngqithi told the media.
“We were fortunate to score in the last minute otherwise they would have been through to the second round, and we were going to be out.
“So, in football you are never entitled to win matches, Argentina lost their first match of the FIFA World Cup against Saudi Arabia and that did not mean they are bad they won the World Cup.
“So, you will learn you are young as well.”
