In-form Orlando Pirates winger Ghampani Lungu has been called up to the Zambia national team for the first time in over two years.
Lungu, 27, has started his stint at Pirates like a house on firing, scoring four goals and setting up one more in his first seven appearances for the Buccaneers.

His form hasn’t gone unnoticed and he has now been recalled to the Chipolopolo squad by head coach George Lwandamina.
He made his debut for the senior national team at the age of 19 and has gone on to make 15 appearances, but of late fell out of favour in the Chipolopolo.
However, he is now part of Zambia’s 27-man squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Algeria and Togo.

Lunug missed Pirates’ last two games in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round, after picking up an injury in the 4-0 win over Kruger United.
However, he seems to have recovered in time to make the AFCON qualifiers on 25 and 29 September. He last featured for Zambia in a 2-1 defeat to Mali in March 2024.
