Mosimane Suffers Saudi Setback

Pitso Mosimane’s hopes of saving Abha FC from relegation suffered a setback as they lost 3-2 to ten-man Al Fayha on Sunday evening.

Abha drew their first game in charge under Mosimane, and went into this away game in 17th place, while Al Fayha were in 13th place, seven points ahead.

Abha were handed an early advantage in just the fourth minute when Al Fayha’s Hussain Al Shuwaysh was sent off after VAR intervention.

Another VAR decision went Abha’s way midway through the first half as they were awarded a penalty, and Grzegorz Krychowiak converted to give them the lead in the 29th minute.

But it was level in stoppage time as Abdelhamid Sabiri scored from a free kick to make it 1-1.

And the ten men of Al Fayha were in front in the 70th minute as Fashion Sakala was set up by Ghislain Konan and Sakala fired in to make it 2-1.

Sakala scored his second goal in the 89th minute, adding to Abha’s woes, and while Ahmed Abdu pulled one back for Abha in stoppage time, it was too late to stop the defeat.
