Ngezana’s FCSB Hammer Opponents In UCL Qualifiers

Siyabonga Ngezana’s FCSB have beaten minnows SS Virtus 7-1 in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

FCSB qualified for the first round after winning the Romanian Superliga title, while Virtus were champions in San Marino.

However, the visitors made light work of Virtus, beating them 7-1.

Ngezana started the match, which saw his side race to a 5-0 half-time lead thanks to a hat-trick by Darius Olaru and a brace by Daniel Popa.

The score left FCSB coach Elias Charalambous in confident mode, making four changes at the break, with Kaizer Chiefs academy product Ngezana also getting a rest.

His side scored two more goals in the second half thanks to a brace by David Miculescu, before the minnows pulled one back via Manuel Battistini.

FSCB start their Superliga title defence on Saturday before hosting Virtus in the second leg at home.

Unless the San Marino minnows pull off a massive upset in the second leg, the Romanian giants will face Israeli champions Maccabi Tel Aviv FC in the second qualifying round.
