Ngezana’s FCSB Take Big Step Towards UCL

Siyabonga Ngezana’s FCSB have kept their chances of qualifying for the league phase of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League after picking up a last-minute win on Wednesday.

Ngezana, who joined FCSB from Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the 2023/24 season, has had a remarkable stint in Europe so far, winning the Romanian league and Super Cup.

They’ve continued their fine form in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers and jumped passed Maccabi Tel-Aviv on Wednesday.

The first leg had ended 1-1, while FCSB celebrate a 90th-minute winner in the reverse fixture away from home, with William Baeten the hero on the night.

Ngezana played the full 90 minutes, as his side kept another clean sheet and will now face Czech champions Sparta Praha in the third qualifying round.

FCSB had already eliminated San Marino’s Virtus 11-1 on aggregate.
