Spanish Women’s B league side Cacereño Femenino have announced the signing of veteran Banyana Banyana defender Noko Matlou from SD Eibar.
Matlou recently parted ways with Eibar after her contract expired in July 2024 having been with the Women’s F Division side for four years between 2020 and 2024. The Moletji-born defender played 44 matches during that time period as they were relegated and subsequently returned to topflight as well.
Cacereño made the announcement of Matlou’s signing on their X platform on Wednesday afternoon which will serve as a confidence booster for the 38-year-old who still wants to be part of the Banyana squad that will defend their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco next year.
“Noko Matlou comes to Cacereño Feminino from SD Eibar. She has played in 5 African Cup of Nations, 2 Olympic Games, 2 FIFA World Cups and more than 4,300 minutes in LaLiga Femina,” the statement, translated from Spanish, read.
Matlou reacted to her new club’s post, saying: “My new home away from home, new journey, new beginnings.”
Cacereño currently occupy 11th position on the log with 29 points.
