Pitso Drops Back Into Relegation Spots

Pitso Mosimane and Abha Club dropped back in the relegation spots after being hammered 5-1 by the South Africans former side Al Ahli, while some of their competitors picked up points.

Abha had left the relegation spots following their 1-1 draw with Damak last week but the relief was short-lived, as they now find themselves back in 17th spot.

On Saturday, Mosimane and Abha lost 5-1 to Al Ahli thanks to goals by Firas Al-Buraikan (8), Ziyad Aljohani (46) and Sumaihan Al-Nabit (72).

The result got even worse after two late goals by Riyad Mahrez (85) and Franck Kessie (87), with Mosimane’s cash-injected former side allowing Abha hardly any sniff until the 91st minute when Abha pulled one back via an Eduoard Mendy own goal.

Abha find themselves back in 17th spot after Al Okhdood held Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq to a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Al Tai left the relegation spots thanks to a 3-1 win over eighth-placed Al-Fateh, while Al Riyadh drew 1-1 with bottom-placed Al Hazem.

Abha and Al Okhdood sit on 29 points, with Abha behind based on the worse goal difference, while Al Tai and Al Riyadh sit on 31 points above the relegation zone.

Mosimane and Abha have two games left to safe their Pro League status, facing 11-th placed Al-Khaleej and bottom-placed Al Hazem.
