Pitso Suffers Massive Setback In Relegation Race

Pitso Mosimane’s Abha Football Club suffered a setback in their fight against relegation after being held to a 1-1 draw by Al Riyadh, who are also battling for survival.

Mosimane’s side, which had collected an important win ahead of the international break, failed to beat Riyadh despite scoring the opener in the first half via Francois Kamano.

The home side dominated possession over large parts of the game but it was even in terms of shots on target at half-time, with both having won but Abha leading.

However, the hosts turned the screws in the second interval and found the equaliser in the 70th minute via Saleh Al Abbas.

Mosimane reatced with a host of changes but couldn’t change the fortunes of the game, with Riyadh holding Abha to a draw and keeping their three point advantage in the log.

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona wasn’t in the squad for the home side.

While Riyadh sit in 14th with 25 points from 25 games, Mosimane’s Abha stayed in 17th with 22 points. The South African tactician has now collected eight points from six games, but has just nine games left to save Abha.

On Tuesday, Mosimane and Abha will face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, who are second on the log.
