Manqoba Mngqithi’s Young Africans and Steve Barker’s Simba SC first battle in the NBC Premier League has been confirmed.
The date for the next Kariakoo Derby between Simba SC and Young Africans has been set, and is expected with much excitement.
These two sides will face each other on 10 October; with the Tanzanian giants being led by two South African coaches, Mngqithi and Barker, for the first time.
Barker has already been involved into three Kariakoo Derbies last season, winning one and drawing two.
This time it will hit different as he will face his fellow countrymen in Mngqithi and they know each other very well from the Betway Premiership.
Simba finished just two points behind Young Africans in the previous campaign, with Yanga winning the league title for the fourth time in a row.
However, Barker won both domestic cups with Simba, beating Yanga in the Muungano Cup final in April – which was Simba’s first win over their rivals in eight matches.
Both sides will also meet each other in the Tanzania Community Shield but a date is yet to be set.
