SA Starlet Finds New Club In Europe

South African junior international Tashreeq Matthews is set for a club switch ahead of the close of Swedish transfer window on Thursday.

Matthews, who turns 22 next month, is set for a switch to Allsvenskan side IK Syrius, having spent the last two-and-a-half season at VarbergsBois in the same league.

iDiski Times has learnt that the two clubs have reached an agreement, and Matthews’ move is now just subject to a medial that will happen on Wednesday.

Matthews was a standout player for Varberg in 2021, but has not had the best of seasons in 2022. He had been linked with a move away last season, but Varberg hung onto the player despite his contract being set to run out at the end of the year.

The former Ajax Cape Town academy player first went to Europe having signed for German giants Borussia Dortmund. He was loaned out to FC Utrecht in Holland, before having a brief spell at Helsingborgs before joining Varberg.
