Ten Hag Sends Message To Benni After Man Utd Exit

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has paid tribute to his former backroom technical staff member Benni McCarthy, wishing him well on his next odyssey.

The South African football legend spent two seasons with his boyhood club, winning the Caraboa Cup in his first season before following that up with the FA Cup last season.

On Thursday, the Red Devils announced that they had parted ways with McCarthy, who worked as striker’s coach at the club, a role which has now been filled by the club’s former striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

“I want to pay tribute to his fantastic service over the past two years, and also to Benni [McCarthy] for his important contributions,” Ten Hag said on United’s official website.

“We send them our thanks and best wishes for the future.”

McCarthy, who still holds the record as Bafana Bafana’s all-time top goalscorer with 31 goals, has previously coached Cape Town City and AmaZulu in the DStv Premiership, though his next destination is yet to be confirmed.
