Why Leshabela Was Sent Back To Leicester City

Leicester City midfielder Khanya Leshabela has returned early from his loan spell at League Two side Crewe Alexandra.

The 23-year-old has made 10 appearances in League Two this season, but he’s only been in the starting XI for two of them, as he has struggled to force his way into the side regularly.

Head coach of Alexandra Lee Bell explained why they had to let the South African international leave early this window.

“Khanya went back slightly early, we thought that was right for him. He wasn’t getting the game-time,” he told the club’s website.

“He is a smashing lad and it just started looking like it was getting on top of him a little bit so we wanted to give him that extra-time just to assess his options because he needs to be playing football at his age.”

According to reports, it remains to be seen what the immediate future holds for Leshabela, but he will either look for new loan club this month or could even leave Leicester permanently as he has also failed to break into the first team of the Foxes.
