Wydad Athletic Club have picked up a 1-1 draw against Union Touarga on Friday evening.
The game started very disrupted with the referee having two long VAR reviews, first for a red card against Wydad for a dangerous tackle, which was overruled after review in the seventh minute.
However, Wydad conceded a penalty in the 15th minute – after a five minute review – for a handball inside the box and Mouad Dahak stepped up to convert for the hosts.
Wydad equalised after 37 minutes when Walid Nassi pounced on a lose ball in the box after the UTS goalkeeper had parried an initial shot by Nassim Chadli.
Mokwena reacted with two half-time changes, and even though Wydad dominated possession with 59% to 41%, they failed to really threaten the UTS goal.
Cassius Mailula was replaced by new signing M’Baye Niang in the 60th minute and the former AC Milan striker had a header just flying past the post shortly after.
Ultimately, though, Wydad failed to turn their possession into more goal threats and the score remained 1-1.
UTS are currently at the top of the Botola log, with five points from three matches, while Wydad sit in sixth on four points, but both sides have one game in hand over the rest of the leage.
