Al Ahly Rivals Urged To Sign Tau

Zamalek and Egypt legend Ahmed Hossam Mido has urged his former club to sign Percy Tau from bitter rivals Al Ahly.

Tau, 29, is the reigning African Player of the Year based in Africa, but has struggled with injuries and fatigue since the his return from the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Bafana Bafana winger made his long-awaited return in Al Ahly’s goalless draw at TP Mazembe in the CAF Champions League semi-final first leg and the Club of the Century will hope he can help them book their place in the final.

However, Mido has now urged Al Ahly’s bitter rivals to sign the South Africa, who has won seven trophies with the reigning CAF Champions League winners.

“I hope Percy Tau joins Zamalek. The Zamalek board should fight to sign him because his contract with Al Ahly is nearing its end,” he said as per Kingfut.

“If there are more signings in the summer, Zamalek will return to its natural strength and compete for all the trophies.

“I urge the Zamalek fans to be patient with the club’s board because change takes time, and the club is on the right track in all sports.”

Another player Mido would love to see at former Huddersfield and Stoke City winger, Ramadan Sobhi – an Al Ahly youth product – join Zamalek.

“Ramadan Sobhi is a young player but hasn’t developed as expected in the past two years. However, Zamalek can give him a lifeline,” he added.

“The club’s fans are great, they can revive anyone from the freezer, but we must respect Pyramids because they still own the player’s contract.”
