AmaZulu FC have set their eyes on Stellenbosch FC defender Omega Mdaka ahead of the new season, as the Kaizer Chiefs youth product could reunite with Arthur Zwane.

iDiski Times have it on good authority that AmaZulu opened talks with Stellenbosch for the signature of the young defender.

The negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs but they are understood to be close to reaching the agreement.

The coming days are said to be crucial for all three camps – Mdaka, AmaZulu and Stellenbosch – as Usuthu aim to conclude the deal before pre-season starts.

The 22-year old is an Amakhosi youth product where he was coached by Zwane who is currently the head coach of AmaZulu.

Mdaka was released by Chiefs before Stellies snatched him up, and he became a regular feature under Steve Barker. In 2024/25, he made 17 appearances for Stellies, mainly off the bench, while in 2025/27 he featured 34 times for the club.

He has scored one goal for the Cape Winelands side and won several Man of the Match awards, awaking the interest of AmaZulu and Zwane.

He also has experience in Africa, and made 10 appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup, helping them to reach semi-final in 2024/25.
