AGF Aarhus have knocked back a major offer for star wing-back Gift Links, with sporting director Carsten Jensen making clear the reigning Superliga champions have no intention of selling.

Links has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer in recent weeks but now a top-flight Ligue 1 club tabled a substantial bid for the 27-year-old; but AGF turned it down without hesitation.

Their reasoning: even a generous offer doesn’t come close to matching what they could eventually command. The club’s benchmark remains Yann Aurel Bisseck, sold to Internazionale three years ago for around €7 million — a deal struck when Bisseck was younger and commanded a higher valuation than Gift Links does now.

In AGF’s eyes, this bid simply undervalues their man who was an integral part in leading the club to their first title success in four decades and how made the Superliga Team of the Season for three consecutive campaigns.

There’s been suggestions that Links approached the club to ask them to accept the offer that arrived from ‘one of the top five clubs in France’ with the player viewing it as a major opportunity for his career.

However, Links remains contracted for another three years, having committed to a club with a new deal last year as a show of loyalty in their attempts to fight for the title – which leaves the Danish champions in a strong position in the transfer saga.

Danish publication Tipsbladet also confirmed that Sporting Director, Jensen is not open to the idea of Links leaving after losing two senior figures in the squad upon the expiry of their contracts to domestic rivals.

Links has been at the club since 2019, when AGF invested a reported €700,000 for his services from Cape Town City and since has become one of the leading figures in Danish football – to a point where they club views him as untransferable, as they now look to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group league phase.
