Another Sundowns Coach Resigns

Mamelodi Sundowns’ DStv Diski Challenge team coach Sinethemba Badela has stepped down from his role, iDiski Times has learnt.

Badela joined Sundowns at the beginning of last season after he had a good campaign with All Stars FC, leading them to a top-four finish in the Motsepe Foundation Championship in 2022/23, in what was their first campaign after relocating to Gauteng before the status was sold to Black Leopards.

Badela then took charge of the Sundowns DDC team and led them to a marvellous title chase, but they ultimately lost out to Stellenbosch FC on the final day of the season.

This publication understands that Badela has submitted his resignation letter at Sundowns and will leave with immediate effect.

The up-and-coming technocrat spent just one season at Sundowns and it is expected that he will join former Masandawana head coach Rulani Mokwena’s technical team once he has secured a new club.

Mokwena, meanwhile, has been heavily linked with a move to Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club and is expected to arrive in Casablanca on Thursday.

He’s asked for assurances of the sporting project, transfers, and wants a tour of the facilities before making a final decision, as reported by iDiski Times.

Badela becomes the fourth technical team member to leave Sundowns following the parting with Mokwena, and the exits of fitness trainer Sibusiso Mahlangu and Goalkeeper Coach Marcus Mashilo.
