Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker gave an update on defender Ismael Toure who has been left out of their last two games.
Toure has been a trending talking point in this transfer window as he has been linked with different clubs within the Betway Premiership and a move overseas.
Barker clarified that they didn’t want to add stress to Toure hence he was not involved in both fixtures.
“Toure at this stage, it’s a difficult one, hopefully, The European window closes at the end of August,” Barker said after their recent CAF Confederation Cup victory.
“Obviously he’s got ambitions and that’s where he desperately wants to go, at this stage, nothing has materialised. So, if the window does close, obviously he has to get on with things.
“But for now, we felt it was the type of opposition and type of game that we didn’t need to add further stress to him at this stage. I’m sure by this time next week, we’ll have a clear indication of the way forward.”
The Cape Winelands side already lost Iqraam Rayners and Deano Van Rooyen. Fawaaz Basadien has also been linked with moves to Kaizer Chiefs and North Africa.
