Milford FC were the big winners on the opening weekend of the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The action started on Friday as debutants Highbury FC held Black Leopards to a 1-1 draw at the Nelson Mandela University Stadium.
But it was the ideal start at Chatsworth Stadium for re-branded Durban City on Friday evening, as the club formerly known as Maritzburg United came from behind to beat Casric Stars 2-1.
It proved to be a good weekend for the KwaZulu-Natal clubs, as on Saturday Milford picked up an impressive 2-0 win on the road against Venda Football Club.
There were also wins for two Tshwane teams as JDR Stars won 1-0 at home against Upington City, while Pretoria Callies picked up a 1-0 victory away against new franchise Leruma United.
Kruger United, who were promoted alongside Highbury, also drew their first professional game, as it ended 1-1 against Hungry Lions.
Third-place finisher of last season Baroka welcomed Orbit College FC at the village. College took the lead through Gomolemo Khoto. Ananias Gebhardt equalised for Bakgakga and the sides shared the spoils.
Cape Town Spurs travelled to AmaTuks with their coach Ernst Middendorp still serving a suspension from last season.
Goalkeeper Ayanda Dlamini kept AmaTuks in the game after making a few good saves and earned them a point.
