Kaizer Chiefs have made a u-turn on midfielder George Matlou, who was set to leave the club at the end of June.
This publication reported that Chiefs were initially set to part ways with Matlou at the end of his contract, which ran out on 30 June.
But there has been a new development, as the club’s management have now decided to continue with Matlou and offered him a short-term deal, sources have told iDiski Times.
In the three seasons he spent at Naturena, Matlou played 40 games, won one trophy in the recent Nedbank Cup that ended a 10-year trophy drought.
Ranga Chivaviro, Edmilson Dove, Sabelo Radebe and Mduduzi Mdantsane have been let go, while Njabulo Blom returned to his parent club St. Louis City in the Major League Soccer.
Amakhosi, who have already announced the signing of Flavio Silva, Ethan Chislett, and Nkanyiso Shinga, are set to leave the country for their pre-season camp in the Netherlands later today, with Matlou expected to be on the plane.
