Chiefs SD Motaung Jnr Explains ‘TT’ Transfer

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr has explained why they accepted the offer from Al-Ittihad for Thatayaone Ditlhokwe.

The Botswana captain went from being deemed surplus to requirements at the start of the season, to a regular feature in the XI since December.

He had a loan move to Magesi fall through but managed to fight his way back into contention under head coach Nasreddine Nabi before the Libyan club came with an enticing offer this week, which was accepted by Chiefs.

“It was not an easy decision for us when Al-Ittihad approached us regarding TT,” he told the club’s official website.

“We engaged the player and during our discussions, he expressed his desire to move to Libya for further experience and opportunities. As a Club, we didn’t want to impede his progress, and we appreciate his professionalism and discipline.

“Although we will miss him, we believe this is a fantastic opportunity for him, and we would like to thank him for his dedicated service to Chiefs and wish him the best of luck in his new venture.”

The towering defender racked up 32 appearances for Chiefs since joining the club on a free transfer from SuperSport United in July 2023
