Chippa Give Update On FIFA Ban

Chippa United have confirmed that their transfer ban by FIFA has been lifted with immediate effect.

The Chilli Boys had been punished the club over a dispute with former player Abdi Banda. The 28-year-old joined the Chilli Boys from Mtibwa Sugar in July 2022 but left the club in August this year after making 17 appearances.

However, there were some issues with his exit, as they failed to pay his settlement agreement, which is said to be in the region of R1.2 million.

The matter was escalated to FIFA, who had imposed a ban but the situation was now resolved as the Easter Cape-based club announced on Friday, which is also PSL Deadline Day.

“Chippa United Football Club is pleased to announce that the ban imposed by FIFA on signing both domestic and international players has been lifted,” read the statement.

“In further exciting news, Chippa United FC is preparing to announce one or two major signings this evening.

“This comes as we gear up for our first away game this year against Orlando Pirates FC on 13th January 2024 and welcome Cape Town City on January 17th January 2024 at our revamped Buffalo City Municipality Stadium.”

Chippa attached the following FIFA correspondence as reference:
