Downs Keeper Set For Loan Move

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ismael Watenga is set to return to Lamontville Golden Arrows on a season-long loan move.

Watenga, 29, had three different loan spells at Chippa United, Marumo Gallants and Golden Arrows.

The former Sofapaka FC goalkeeper had a good season with Arrows in 2023/24, where he made 19 league appearances and kept four clean sheets.

The 29-year-old is yet to feature for Sundowns, where he was signed in October 2020 as a free agent after he left Sofapaka two months before joining the South African champions.

iDiski Times understands that Watenga is set for another season-long loan at Arrows. Abafana Bes’thende returned to the pre-season on 24 June already.

Downs have Ronwen Williams, who was named PSL Footballer Of The Season, Dennis Onyango, whose future is yet to be decided, Jody February, who recently exercised an option that will keep him at Chloorkop until June 2025 and Reyaad Pieterse, while Ricardo Goss is also back from his loan at SuperSport United.
