Golden Arrows have made their first signing following the start of the squad clear-out they initiated last week.

Abafana Bes’thende are preparing for what is set to be a challenging season, with the number of competitions on their plate having increased.

The KZN outfit secured a spot in the MTN8 after finishing sixth in the Betway Premiership standings, collecting 41 points from their 30 league games.

As they rebuild the squad for the upcoming campaign, iDiski Times has been informed that they have signed forward Mnqobi Gumede, 21, from FC Ravens, who compete in the Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League.

He has penned a three-year deal with a two-year option as he prepares to begin a new chapter in the topflight after plying his trade in the third tier.

Gumede, who was a lethal goal-scorer for Ravens, was part of the squad that recently participated in the ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs, where his side was eliminated in the group stages.

Meanwhile, as previously reported by this publication, Brandon Theron, Keenan Phillips, Sanele Shabalala, Gladwin Shitolo, Sazi Gumbi, and Nduduzo Mhlongo are all set to depart.
