Jali In ‘Advanced Talks’ With New PSL Club

Mike Makaab, the agent of Andile Jali, has confirmed that the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates midfielder is close to securing a new DStv Premiership club.

Jali, 34, has been without a club after leaving Moroka Swallows due to their financial struggles in December.

He had been released by Sundowns last season and started great under Steve Komphela at the Dube Birds before things fell by the wayside.

However, Makaab has now confirmed that Jali, who decided to continue playing and look for a new challenge in 2024/25, is close to securing a new deal.

“I can only say that we are very close to finalising a new home for him,” Makaab said on Gagasi FM.

“I will not disclose that [which club] now. But I can assure that it will happen within the next seven to 10 days.

“Talks are at an advanced stage between ourselves, AJ and the football club. He’s remaining in the DStv Premiership.

“I’m not even prepared to whisper which province.”

Makaab also insisted that Jali would be a great signing for any club, as he is still a mentality beast.

“Let me tell you something about AJ, he puts his mind to it [and] he’ll get himself in great shape,” he added.

“Whoever he plays for this season, he’ll be influential.

“AJ is a strong character, and great for the dressing room, irrespective what anybody says.

“I’ll never forget the words of Manqoba [Mngqithi], when him and I spoke about AJ, and Pitso [Mosimane] – ‘when the ships are down and you’re looking for warriors to say we can’t be afraid, particular on the African continent and in big games’, they’ve always said to me, ‘the man you can rely on is AJ’.

“And he’s not anything different today than he was two years ago, five years ago. That spirit of wanting to win still sits deep within him.”
