Johnson Gives Chiefs Transfer Update

Kaizer Chiefs caretaker coach Cavin Johnson has explained why his side will not dive into the January transfer market to make any additions.

While most of Chiefs’ top-four rivals have made additions to their team, Amakhosi had a rather quiet transfer window.

They did add nine names ahead of the 2023/24 season, while Luke Fleurs arrived midway, with Johnson clarifying that his side won’t do any last minute deals – unless a crazy opportunity presents itself.

“At the moment, I don’t think we should disrupt the nest. If I may call it the nest,” he told journalists.

“We have a crop of players from last year that’s done well, very well. And the crop of players, there’s some players that haven’t started but they keep their hands up and they look like they’re happy to be in the Kaizer Chiefs players’ group.

“So yeah, I’m happy. But you never know what happens in football. Something could drop out of the sky that’s really, really good for Kaizer Chiefs.

“But in saying that, no, I’m happy with the players we have.”

Chiefs currently sit in sixth place with 24 points from 16 games, two behind fourth-placed Stellenbosch and five behind second-placed Cape Town City.
