Mailula On Potential PSL Return

Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Cassius Mailula has revealed he would be open to a Premier Soccer League return, with Masandawana his first go-to point, but his dream is to play in Europe.

Mailula, 24, left Wydad Athletic Club after the expiry of his loan and will now return to Toronto FC where he is still under contract.

However, the Major League Soccer side are open to offers, as Mailula’s agent, Karabo Tshabuse of P Management confirming they currently have three offers on the table.

Mailula insisted he won’t close the door on a potential return home, but he has ambitions of playing overseas and feels his business with Toronto is not finished.

“You can’t block an opportunity to come back home just yet and also it depends on what they’re offering, what’s their plan with me,” he told Andile Ncube on Metro FM.

“I wouldn’t say I’m going to close that door because you never know in football. For me, it would be nice.

“But also I know I that I’m very ambitious and my goal and my dream is to still go to Europe, and for me firstly I’ll start looking what’s out there in Europe or in other big leagues.

“For now, I’m still contracted to Toronto, I’ve got to respect them and I know that I still have a lot to offer for them. I feel like I’ve got unfinished business with them.”

When quizzed whether he would only consider Sundowns or also teams like Kaizer Chiefs in a potential PSL return, Mailula was clear where his heart lies.

“I love Sundowns… I love Sundowns, Sundowns is home,” he added.

“I think even the president and the chairman knows, that is my first love. Before I can think of other things or teams, I’ll obviously start with Sundowns.

“And after that, if things don’t go well in terms of negotiations then I can think of other things. But for me, Sundowns is my home.”
