Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Cassius Mailula is set to return to Chloorkop in a sensational twist in his career.
The South Africa international has officially parted ways with Toronto FC in the middle of the Major League Soccer season, with his agency P-Management confirming his exit last week.
The 25-year-old joined the MLS club from Mamelodi Sundowns in a reported $1.6-million transfer in 2023 but failed to establish himself at the club.
Over the last two seasons, he went out on loan to Wydad Athletic Club and KV Kortrijk in Belgium – but has now seen his contract that was due to expire in December, mutually terminated.
Mailula is now set to return to Sundowns and start a new chapter in the Premier Soccer League, with iDiski Times sources confirming the striker will travel with the squad to Austria for their pre-season camp.
Since leaving Sundowns Mailula had featured 48 times for Toronto, Wydad and KVK respectively, scoring eight goals with eight assists.
At Sundowns, Mailula burst onto the scene in the 2022/23 season when he scored 15 goals in 31 appearances for the club.
