Major Update On Mngqithi Future

Mamelodi Sundowns are in “advanced talks” with Manqoba Mngqithi about a new deal with is current contract set to expire at the end of June, iDiski Times has learnt.

Mngqithi celebrated 10 years at Sundowns in style after winning his seventh league title with the Tshwane-based outfit.

The former Lamontville Golden Arrows mentor joined The Brazilians as assistant coach to Pitso Mosimane before taking over as the co-coach with Rulani Mokwena.

Mngqithi is now the senior coach in the technical team at Downs and helped the side achieve a new PSL record, winning the league with 73 points. He has won over 10 trophies with the side, including the CAF Champions League and CAF Super Cup.

Over the past couple of months, he had been rumoured to be considering leaving Sundowns due to his contract set to run down. Has also been strongly linked with Kaizer Chiefs.

Information received by iDiski Times from sources close to the club is that Sundowns have agreed on a deal in principle with Mngqithi to extend his stay at Chloorkop.

The new deal is expected to be finalised in the coming days before the club go into the break ahead of their preparation for the upcoming 2024/25 season.
