The Tanzanian giants won their league with 75 points in a season that they didn’t do well in the CAF Champions League, having been eliminated at the preliminary rounds.
Mngqithi has Champions League experience from his tenure with two-time African champions Mamelodi Sundowns and has now been trusted with leading the Tanzanian giants.
The coach said he is excited to see how far he can take the east African club in the tournament.
“It’s always exciting,” said Mngqithi on SABC TV.
“I just wanted to be back into the Champions League space and see what can happen. And an ambitious club that is willing to try and bring some players to make sure that we can achieve our objectives.
“Very professional setup that is very encouraging for me. And it’s something that I’ve always been looking forward to, to be back in the Champions League and see how far can I take the East of Africa in the Champions League.”
