Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana midfielder Jayden Adams has sadly passed away.

Adams, 25, was with Bafana at the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup where Hugo Broos’ men wrote history and became the first ever SA men’s national side to reach the knockout stages.

The midfielder made three appearances at the tournament, but suffered the heartbreak of his grandmother passing away a day before the match against Czechia. Upon his return, Adams spent time in Stellenbosch before he was expected to resume pre-season with Sundowns.

However, this publication was informed about the sad news of his passing on Saturday morning. Official details around his untimely passing have not been confirmed at this stage, as his family and club are trying to come to terms with the shock news.

An official statement is yet to be released…

From everyone at iDiski Times, we would to express our condolences to Jayden’s friends and family, especially those at Stellenbosch FC and Mamelodi Sundowns.

South Africa has lost another talented footballer far too soon.
